MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

“That this area committee hold a civic reception to Honour Sr Carmel Earls that the Mayor attends to recognise and congratulate her on celebrating her diamond jubilee in the order she serves, The 25 years she has worked for the people of Neilstown and on reaching the age of 80. That we celebrate that she was a founder of the Beacon of Light, set up the Carline Project and the huge service she has given the people of North Clondalkin.”

REPORT:

In accordance with the Council’s Protocol for Honouring Significant Achievement, please see reference below regarding procedure for Civic Receptions.

Civic Reception:

All proposals should in the first instance be submitted to the Mayor’s office for inclusion on an agenda for discussion with the Group Leaders and agreement in principle reached.

  • Where agreement in principle has been reached, a motion should be placed by the Mayor’s office on the agenda for a meeting of the appropriate Area Committee Meeting for consideration and recommendation.
  • This recommendation should then be placed on the agenda for a meeting of the Organisation Procedure and Finance Committee for consideration and decision.
  • The Mayor (or Deputy Mayor) will honour the recipient(s) with a Civic Reception following a meeting of the appropriate Area Committee Meeting or in exceptional circumstances following a meeting of South Dublin County Council.
  • Appropriate arrangements will be put in place by the Corporate Performance and Change Management Department subject to budgetary and time constraints and the agreement of all parties concerned in keeping with the stature of the event.
