QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask the Chief Executive for an update report on The Housing Strategy and how the public can make recommendation re same. Also to outline and report what is envisaged within the document and when this will be a final working document?
REPLY:
In accordance with the requirements of Section 94 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended), the Development Plan must include a Housing Strategy for the purpose of ensuring that the proper planning and sustainable development of the area of the development plan provides for the housing of the existing and future population of the area.
The Housing Strategy will be informed by, inter alia, Core Strategy of the Development Plan, the Implementation Plan on the State’s Response to Homelessness (2014), Social Housing Strategy 2020 and the Council’s latest Housing Need Assessment.
As part of the South Dublin Draft County Development Plan 2016 – 2022 the Draft Housing Strategy will be subject to public display from July to September 2015, during which time submissions may be made by any interested person.
