QUESTION NO. 3

QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

“To ask the Chief Executive for a report update on Monastery Road roadworks, and to explain delays to the public?”

REPLY:

The Council apologises for the traffic delays experienced during the implementation of the Monastery Road Walking Scheme and later the drainage works. We are glad to inform you that the works have now come to a conclusion except for some road markings which should be completed shortly without causing any major traffic disruptions. The works carried out for this scheme includes the widening of the footpaths, provision of safe pedestrian crossings and traffic calming to encourage more people to walk to the village and the Luas Station at ‘Red Cow’. The drainage works were necessary and long overdue to fix a long-term drainage problem along Monastery Road. As part of these works this section of road was resurfaced to make sure that there will be no further traffic disruptions to the residents for the foreseeable future.
