MOTION NO.2

MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

Following the extremely Low submissions on the recent public consultation on the Local property , Clondalkin area committee asked the CEO to draw up a detailed set of policy and guidelines on public consultation’s and a plan has to how SDCC intends to deal with this issue.

REPORT:

A wide range of public consultation and stakeholder engagement activity is carried out by the council on a continual basis, including information provision through publications and the website, public meetings, policy consultations, and statutory consultation procedures, for example the 18 month statutory review process of the County Development Plan and the placing of statutory advertisements.

Formal engagement with stakeholders beyond elected representatives takes place through established structures such as the Strategic Policy Committees, the Public Participation Network, the Joint Policing Committee, the Local Community Development Committee and Comhairle na nÓg .

The Communications Office within the Directorate of Corporate Performance and Change Management is currently preparing a new external communications plan which will be presented to the Council for members approval by year end. The plan will ensure that the work of the council is promoted appropriately and that information is accessible to all citizens in a timely, relevant and reliable manner that facilitates meaningful engagement with citizens and our service users.
