MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

“That this commitee asks for safety in Newcastle to take priorty, many residents have hugh concerns around the Glebe Estate and the new path leading to Peamount United.  An urgent safety audit needs to happen.”

REPORT:

The Glebe Estate/Peamount Road has been assessed and the provision of an additional school warden is been considered at this location.

A traffic calming ramp has been installed to mitigate the risk on this road.

The Road Safety Officer has discussed a walkability audit with the local school.

A connection to the ESB supply for the public lighting for the new footpath on Aylmer road is due to be completed shortly.

We will continue to monitor and progress all Road Safety matters in Newcastle.
